About Jakarta Sinfonietta
Jakarta Sinfonietta is a chamber orchestra based in Jakarta. Founded in January 2015, this orchestra consists of professional Indonesian classical musicians with high dedication and integrity. It does not limit its repertoire to a particular school of thought or era but rather focuses on the chamber orchestra genre or ensemble format. Therefore, innovative programs are continuously designed to create diverse and inspiring performances.
Now in its seventh year, the chamber orchestra has performed not only with renowned international soloists from various countries and instruments, such as Enrico Elisi (piano), Sam Haywood (piano), Gia Jashvili (violin), Tony Yike Yang (piano), and Congyu Wang (piano) but also with Indonesia’s young virtuoso soloists, including Bernadeta Astari (soprano), Giovani Biga (violin), Isyana Sarasvati (soprano), Jessica Januar (soprano), Randy Ryan (piano), Stephanie Onggowinoto (piano), Yasashi I. Evelyn Pangaribuan (mezzo-soprano), and many more.
In its debut concert, which received an enthusiastic response from the audience in January 2015, Tunggul Wirajuda from The Jakarta Globe wrote:
“The heavily touted Sinfonietta plays to an audience mesmerized by the group’s talent.”

Our Mission
To serve as a platform for the development of promising young musicians on a national scale. This is essential in shaping an orchestra that is committed to the growth of arts and culture within its community.
To develop Indonesia’s own classical music repertoire, which is an art form rooted in Western traditions. This includes providing opportunities for new and contemporary Indonesian composers to present their works in the best possible setting.
To enhance public appreciation for the arts, especially among younger generations, ensuring that artistic music activities become more solid, vibrant, and continuously evolving in response to audience demand.
Our idealistic mission, which contains many educational elements, is very difficult to fund solely through ticket sales. This is because, in any case, the event cannot be commercial in nature, let alone simply cater to public preferences. Therefore, we urge donors and sponsors to join us in developing artistic music activities for the advancement of culture and the creation of a society with empathy and a high level of cultural awareness.
